Fashion Valley Mall is an upscale open air center in Mission Valley. This lounge design is a response to a Client request to enliven a blank square by incorporating uses that would be welcomed by surrounding tenants and operations staff. My winning proposal suggested a sculptural lounge and children's play area. Frond-like petals, formally inspired by adjacent palm trees, sit atop rolling artificial turf mounds and low water features. The lighting features are left ambiguous at this stage of design...
